Trading Stocks on Kentrade Platform

Online customers of Kenanga will use the Kentrade platform for the purpose of transacting in the market, tracking their portfolio and updating themselves on stocks & markets (including overseas markets).

Kentrade platform allows customers to transact in stocks listed on Bursa Malaysia, HKEX & SGX. The default screen will show prices for Bursa Malaysia (see Diagram 1). If you click on the small arrow, the drop down menu will give you the choice of transacting in HKEX or SGX (see Diagram 2 & 3). To trade in overseas markets, you need to make prior arrangement with the company.

  2. Hi steve,

I have not used or tried out CIMB iTrade. After playing its demo videos, I think it is about the same.

Its fundamental information is provided by Capital IQ whereas Kentrade sources the data from Equities Tracker. Kentrade provides access to Kenanga Research. I did not see any link to CIMB Research in the demo video. It must be there somewhere as this is one of the strong suit of CIMB as it has one of the best research teams in the industry.

CIMB iTrade provides the option to obtain real-time price data for overseas trading at a fee. Is there a default 15-minute delay streaming data like Kentrade Global Trading? On the other hand, Kentrade Global Trading doesn't have that option to view real-time price data.

  3. Hi Alex,

Yes, without paying extra fees, the data for international stocks are delayed. I'm not sure delay for how long, it seems like 15 minutes. Therefore, my method of trading on iTrade is to open finance.yahoo.com screen which comes with "almost" real-time stocks update for US market. however it doesn't come with HK market, so I need to refresh screen to get updated data for HK stocks.

Yes, cimb iTrade has a section "Research" which will launch a page with research papers for multiple markets that consist of 10 countries inclusive HK/China.

  4. But cimb iTrade doesn't write papers for US market. This is a big surprise for me. So I need to dig information from foreign news. Yahoo finance is very helpful for me.
